Augmented Reality in Nurse Practitioner Education: Using a Triage Scenario to Pilot Technology Usability and Effectiveness

Background Before implementation, simulations and new technologies should be piloted for usability effectiveness. Simulationists augmented reality (AR) researchers developed an triage scenario Nurse Practitioner (NP) students. Methods A mixed-method, exploratory, pilot study was carried out with NP students other volunteers. Participants completed several tools to appraise the of AR modality effectiveness learning. Open-ended questions were asked, qualitative themes obtained via content analysis. Results Mixed results received by twelve participants (8 students, 4 volunteers). There some issues usability, technical challenges occurred. The debriefing found effective, favorable comments made on simulation realism. Further preparation technology, along more practice, inferred. Those reported previous experience effective. Conclusions improvements are needed modality. Debriefing can effective realistic. need further in triaging use practice is needed. have promise education.
